Delhi Government Approves One-Time Amnesty Scheme for 1,832 Jammu & Kashmir Migrant Families

Date:

New Delhi, June 1: The Delhi Government has approved a One-Time Amnesty Scheme for 1,832 Jammu & Kashmir migrant families residing in the national capital, aiming to provide relief in a more accessible and dignified manner.

Announcing the decision through a post on X, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said many families displaced from Jammu & Kashmir have spent decades living with the memories of displacement and the challenges that followed.

Under the newly approved scheme, eligible migrant families will receive Ad-Hoc Monthly Relief from the Delhi Government.

A key feature of the scheme is the removal of income and immovable property eligibility conditions, making it easier for affected families to access the benefits without facing restrictive qualification criteria.

The government has also decided to implement Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments to ensure transparency and timely disbursement of financial assistance directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

To support the initiative, the Delhi Government has earmarked a budgetary allocation of ₹30 crore for the financial year 2026-27.

According to the Chief Minister, the objective of the scheme is to ensure that relief reaches displaced Jammu & Kashmir migrant families in a more respectful, transparent and hassle-free manner.

Officials said the initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of families who have been residing in Delhi for years after being displaced from Jammu & Kashmir and are currently dependent on various forms of government assistance.

The Delhi Government stated that the scheme reflects its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and ensuring that welfare benefits are delivered efficiently through technology-driven systems.
