Vasant Kunj Mercedes Crash: 23-Year-Old Uttarakhand Youth Rohit Bisht Killed, Two Injured After High-Speed SUV Hits Auto Stand

Date:

New Delhi: A 23-year-old man from Uttarakhand, identified as Rohit Bisht, died in a violent high-speed crash near Ambience Mall in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj late Saturday night. A Mercedes-Benz G63, allegedly speeding, lost control and rammed into three men standing near an auto-rickshaw stand. Two others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.

The victims, all employed at a restaurant inside the mall, were waiting for transport after closing hours when the out-of-control SUV first hit a pole and then struck them with immense force. Rohit was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The two injured workers are reported to be out of danger.

Rohit, a native of Beradhar Gram Sabha in Dewal block of Chamoli district, was the eldest son in his family. His father, Yashwant, is a farmer. Rohit had moved to Delhi to work in the hospitality sector and support his family financially. News of his death has plunged the family into deep grief.

The luxury SUV was being driven by 29-year-old Shivam, who was returning from a wedding along with his wife and elder brother. He has been detained by Delhi Police for questioning. The vehicle, owned by a friend of the accused, had reportedly been borrowed for the evening.
