Snatching Bid Foiled in 10 Minutes: Kalindi Kunj Police Arrests 24-Year-Old in South Delhi

New Delhi: In a swift and coordinated action, the alert team of Kalindi Kunj Police apprehended a mobile snatching accused within minutes of the incident and recovered the stolen handset.

According to police officials, a PCR call was received around 1:30 PM on February 11, 2026, regarding a mobile phone snatching near Khadar Pulia in Madanpur Khadar. The investigating officer along with the patrolling beat staff rushed to the spot immediately.

The complainant, Mrs. Chhaya Kanojia (30), a resident of JJ Colony, Madanpur Khadar, reported that while she was crossing the road, an unidentified man approached from behind, snatched her mobile phone, and attempted to flee.

Upon hearing her alarm, the patrolling staff, assisted by local residents, chased the accused and successfully apprehended him near Bablu Dairy within minutes of the crime.

Based on the victim’s statement, FIR No. 131/2026 dated February 12, 2026, has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The accused has been identified as Yash Bhadana (24), a resident of Sarita Vihar. Police said he is currently unemployed and lives with his mother and brother. During sustained interrogation, he reportedly admitted that financial distress led him to commit snatching incidents to earn quick money. He specifically targeted lone pedestrians, particularly women, and chose crowded areas to escape easily.

Further investigation revealed his prior involvement in a burglary case registered under FIR No. 0213/2022 at PS Sarita Vihar. Authorities are verifying his complete criminal record.

Police have recovered the stolen mobile phone and stated that further investigation is underway.
