New Delhi: Samaypur Badli police apprehended a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old juvenile near Loha Pul on Lower GTK Road and recovered two button-actuated knives, police said.
The action took place during the intervening night of September 26 and 27, 2026, while Constables Vijay and Gaurav were patrolling the area. Police said the two tried to flee after noticing the patrol and were intercepted.
According to police, a search led to the recovery of one button-actuated knife from each of them. The adult was identified as Anil alias Raintla, a resident of Swaroop Nagar. The juvenile’s identity is being withheld.
Source of knives under investigation
A case under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered at Samaypur Badli police station on September 27. Investigators are examining where the knives came from and the purpose for which they were being carried.
Police said Anil had previous involvement in two cases: one registered at Samaypur Badli under Sections 304(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and another under the Arms Act at Bhalswa Dairy.
The operation was supervised by ACP Firoz Alam, under the guidance of Additional DCP-I, Outer North District, Lokeshwaran R. Police said further action would depend on the facts and evidence emerging during the investigation.
