NEW DELHI: Following the discovery of a woman’s body inside a bed box in a Delhi flat, police revealed on Saturday that she had been living separately from her husband and was not in contact with her parents in Ludhiana, Punjab.
The deceased woman, identified as Anju alias Anjali, was in her 30s. Authorities are currently in the process of verifying her identity and gathering more information from her parents.
The grim discovery was made on Friday when the decomposing body of the woman was found wrapped in a blanket inside a bed box in a flat in Shahdara, Delhi. The owner of the residence, Vivekanand Mishra, has been taken into custody for questioning.
A police team has been dispatched to Ludhiana to bring the woman’s parents to Delhi for proper identification. The family is reportedly facing financial difficulties.
The woman, who was married, resided in Delhi separately from her husband, who lives in Bihar. She had lost touch with her parents, according to authorities.
Mishra, aged between 55 to 60 years, is currently being interrogated by the police as they work to piece together the events leading to the woman’s tragic demise.
Upon receiving a PCR call about a foul smell emanating from a DDA Flat in Vivek Vihar, police discovered the locked residence with signs of forced entry near the back door. Inside, they found the decomposed body of a woman wrapped in a blanket inside a bed storage compartment. The victim appeared to be married, as indicated by the red bangles she was wearing.
