New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a man for allegedly creating a fake Instagram account in a woman’s name and using it to harass and defame her online.
The North-East District Police disclosed the arrest through a post on its official X account.
“आरोपी ने पीड़िता के नाम से फर्जी Instagram ID बनाकर उसे परेशान एवं बदनाम करने का प्रयास किया था,” police stated in the post.
According to police, the case was investigated by the Cyber Police Station team of North-East District as a matter of alleged digital stalking.
Police said the accused had purportedly created an Instagram identity in the complainant’s name and used it in an attempt to harass her and damage her reputation.
The mobile phone allegedly used in the offence was also recovered, according to the X post.
Police did not disclose the identities of the accused or the complainant, or provide additional information about the material allegedly published through the fake account.
