Delhi Police Register FIR Against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun Over Threats Ahead of Republic Day

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell has registered an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for allegedly issuing threats to create unrest in the national capital ahead of Republic Day on January 26.

According to police sources, Pannun had claimed on social media that pro-Khalistan posters would be put up across Delhi through a so-called sleeper cell network as part of a larger plan to disturb public order. Acting on the threat, the Special Cell initiated an investigation and registered a case under charges related to conspiracy to endanger India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Police officials clarified that no such posters have been found anywhere in the capital so far, and the claim made online has been found to be misleading. However, authorities said the FIR was registered as a preventive and precautionary measure, given the sensitivity of Republic Day and the potential threat to national security.

Security agencies are continuing to monitor online platforms and related networks to prevent any attempt to spread fear or disrupt peace during national celebrations. Police have reiterated that strict action will be taken against any individual or group attempting to incite unrest or challenge the unity of the country.
