New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested R.K. Regan Singh, alias Gandhi, 35, from Yusuf Sarai in South Delhi. He has been described as a wanted cadre of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur and is said to be wanted in two cases registered in Manipur under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Singh had been living in Delhi while concealing his identity, according to the available details of the arrest. The search for him began in the area around AIIMS, where hotel records and CCTV footage were checked, and his identity was confirmed with the help of Manipur Police.
A team from Manipur took him into custody after his identity was confirmed, and he was handed over to Manipur Police after legal formalities were completed.
The case numbers, the dates of the alleged offences and the details of the allegations in the two UAPA cases have not been made public. Neither Delhi Police nor Manipur Police had posted an official statement on the arrest on their X accounts as of Sunday.
The PLA is among the Manipur-based armed groups declared unlawful by the Union government under the UAPA.
