New Delhi, July 7: In a major breakthrough against organized vehicle theft, the Special Staff of Delhi Police’s Rohini District has busted a high-tech interstate auto theft syndicate that allegedly used advanced electronic key programming devices to steal luxury vehicles without breaking locks or damaging windows. Four accused, including the alleged mastermind, have been arrested.
According to Rohini DCP Shashank Jaiswal, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional DCP Satish Kumar, with the investigation led by ACP Ajmer Singh and Inspector Sandeep Godara along with the Special Staff team.
PG Room Turned Into High-Tech Crime Lab
Police investigations revealed that the accused had converted a rented PG accommodation into a makeshift laboratory where they used laptops, electronic key programmers and sophisticated automotive tools to create duplicate computerized keys for luxury vehicles.
Once the electronic keys were programmed, the gang could unlock and start vehicles within minutes without breaking windows, forcing door locks or causing visible damage. This allowed them to evade suspicion and steal expensive vehicles silently.
Daytime Surveillance, Night-Time Thefts
The gang allegedly conducted reconnaissance during the day, identifying parked luxury vehicles in residential colonies and commercial areas. They would return late at night equipped with electronic devices, generate duplicate keys on the spot and drive away with the targeted vehicles.
Police said the gang operated across multiple states, making the case an interstate vehicle theft racket.
Massive Recovery
During the operation, Delhi Police recovered:
- 11 stolen luxury vehicles
- 1 stolen autorickshaw
- 50 electronic/computerized car keys
- Advanced key programming machine
- Laptop used for programming keys
- GPS detector
- Several sophisticated electronic tools used in vehicle theft
Among the recovered vehicles are:
- 3 Hyundai Creta SUVs
- 2 Maruti Baleno cars
- 1 Mahindra Thar SUV
- 1 Hyundai Alcazar SUV
- Along with several other luxury vehicles.
Investigation Continues
Police are now investigating the gang’s interstate network, possible buyers of the stolen vehicles, the source of the sophisticated electronic equipment and whether the accused are linked to other unsolved vehicle theft cases across Delhi and neighbouring states.
Delhi Police said further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the syndicate and recover more stolen vehicles.
