New Delhi: In a major crackdown, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted a fake auto parts racket operating in Karol Bagh, one of the capital’s biggest automobile markets.
During the operation, two accused were arrested and counterfeit spare parts worth approximately ₹25–30 lakh were seized. Police also recovered duplicate packaging of TVS Genuine Parts, revealing a well-organised network involved in selling fake products as original.
The raid led to the recovery of large quantities of spurious automobile components, including clutch assemblies, timing chains, brake pads and filters. Around 60 bags filled with fake spare parts were seized from the godown.
Officials also found a complete packaging and branding setup at the location, including barcode printers and bulk fake branding material, used to replicate original company packaging and mislead customers.
The operation was carried out by the ER-II team of Crime Branch led by Inspector Pawan Kumar under ACP Narender Beniwal and supervised by DCP Pankaj Kumar.
Police said such rackets not only cause financial losses to genuine manufacturers but also pose serious safety risks to consumers, as substandard vehicle parts can lead to accidents. Further investigation is underway to trace the wider network.
