Crime Branch Arrests Accused Who Ran Over Delhi Traffic Policeman and Fled

New Delhi, June 15: Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested the accused involved in the hit-and-run case in which a Delhi Traffic Police personnel was seriously injured after being struck by a speeding car while on duty at the Sarai Julena Red Light.

According to Delhi Police, the accused was driving on the wrong side of the road when Head Constable Rahul Kumar of the Delhi Traffic Police signalled him to stop for violating traffic rules. Instead of complying with the instructions, the driver allegedly accelerated the vehicle and rammed into the traffic policeman before fleeing the spot.

The incident left Head Constable Rahul Kumar injured and led to the registration of a criminal case. Following the hit-and-run, multiple police teams launched an intensive search operation to trace the accused.

Delhi Police said the accused continuously changed his location in an attempt to evade arrest. However, officers of the Crime Branch tracked his movements using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs.

After sustained efforts, the Crime Branch team successfully apprehended the accused and took him into custody.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the incident. The accused is being questioned, and legal proceedings are being initiated as per law.

The arrest comes as a significant breakthrough in the case and follows the earlier identification of the offending vehicle through CCTV footage and other technical evidence collected during the investigation.
