New Delhi, May 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Vigilance Officer and a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employee of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in connection with a bribery case involving alleged demand and acceptance of illegal gratification.
According to the CBI press release, the agency registered the case on May 18, 2026, against the accused Assistant Vigilance Officer based on a complaint filed by a former Deputy Director of DDA.
The complainant alleged that the accused officer demanded a bribe of ₹5 lakh in exchange for sending a favourable reply to the complainant’s parent department in a vigilance matter pending against him.
Following negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept ₹3 lakh as illegal gratification.

CBI Trap Operation
The CBI laid a trap on May 18 and caught the Assistant Vigilance Officer while allegedly demanding and accepting ₹50,000 through the accused MTS employee of DDA.
The amount was reportedly part payment of the agreed bribe amount of ₹3 lakh from the complainant.
Both accused persons have been arrested by the CBI.
Investigation Underway
The agency stated that further investigation in the case is currently underway.
In its statement, the CBI reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against corrupt public servants and urged citizens to report incidents involving bribery or corruption by government officials.
The agency also appealed to the public to share any relevant information related to corruption cases with the CBI Anti-Corruption Branch in Delhi.
