Delhi | MCD Imposes Rs 50,000 Fine on Assistant Engineer for Negligence in Debris Clearance

Date:

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has levied a fine of Rs 50,000 on an assistant engineer due to negligence in clearing debris from government land, a situation that came to light during a surprise inspection in the eastern region of the city.

As part of a comprehensive cleanliness initiative, teams from the district administration and the MCD conducted joint inspections in various locations, including IP Extension Ward, Ghazipur Murga Mandi, Khichripur Ward, Road Number 57, and Preet Vihar.

During the inspection at Ghazipur Murga Mandi, officials noted new encroachments despite previous enforcement actions. In response, they instructed local police to enhance monitoring efforts to deter such violations, according to an official statement.

In Khichripur Ward, significant sanitation issues were identified on land managed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). This prompted the administration to collaborate with the DDA for immediate remedial measures.

Additionally, illegal dumping of construction and demolition waste by tractors reportedly entering from Uttar Pradesh was observed at Road Number 57. Authorities have proposed stringent measures to restrict the entry of these vehicles.

Officials emphasized that these inspections will be conducted regularly and underscored the importance of accountability across all departments to enhance cleanliness throughout the city.
