New Delhi: Two new common biomedical waste treatment plants are planned for Delhi to meet healthcare waste needs through 2050, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee said.
The facilities will serve two catchments: one covering East, North-East, Central and Old Delhi, and another covering West, South-West and Outer North, according to details released by DPCC.

Waste demand projected to rise
For the eastern catchment, the accompanying graphic projects daily biomedical waste generation rising from 8,005 kg in 2024 to 18,000 kg, or 18 tonnes, by 2050. This is a future demand estimate.
The announcement concerns planned facilities and does not give a calendar opening date.
