MCD Announces December 31 Deadline for SUNIYO 2.0 Property Tax Relief

Date:

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has asked property taxpayers to use its SUNIYO 2.0 “One Plus Seven” scheme by December 31, 2026, announcing relief from older property-tax dues subject to payment under the scheme.

In an October 16 post, the corporation said taxpayers must pay the principal property tax for the current financial year and the preceding seven financial years without interest or penalties. It said this would provide relief from property tax, interest and penalties for earlier periods.

The announcement is a “One Plus Seven” offer. Taxpayers should confirm the financial years, eligibility and property-specific liability with MCD before making a payment.

The corporation directed residents to its official property-tax portal for scheme information and payment. It also listed 7065064988 as the assistance number.

The portal’s accessible SUNIYO FAQ reviewed for this report describes the older 2025–26 “One Plus Five” scheme and its earlier deadline. Those older terms should not be treated as confirmation of the revised 2.0 offer.

Residents seeking the current scheme should rely on the latest MCD notification and seek clarification from the civic body where the portal information differs from the new announcement.

The scheme graphic specifies FY 2019–20 to FY 2026–27. It also states that owners with pending property-tax cases may use the scheme, offers correction of incorrect property-tax returns without interest or penalty, and provides instalment payment for property tax of ₹5 lakh or more. These are benefits stated in the MCD graphic; applicable procedures should be confirmed with the corporation.
