New Delhi: Customs officers seized four luxury watches valued at ₹52,54,690 from an Indian passenger who arrived from Hong Kong at Indira Gandhi International Airport on October 11, Delhi Customs said.
The passenger, travelling on flight AI-315, was intercepted at the Green Channel on the basis of spot profiling. A scan of the baggage showed suspicious images of watches, prompting officers to conduct a personal and baggage search, Customs said.

The search resulted in the recovery of four watches bearing the Rolex, Cartier and Omega brands. A chartered engineer assessed their combined value at ₹52,54,690.
According to Customs, the passenger could not produce an invoice or any document establishing lawful possession or import of the watches.
The department said the watches were seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, as liable to confiscation under Section 111. It said the passenger acknowledged, in a statement recorded under Section 108, that he had attempted to bring the watches into the country without proper documentation.
Further investigation is underway, Customs said.
