New Delhi: Eliminating dark spots around transit hubs and strengthening patrols at vulnerable locations were key priorities in a review of women students’ safety held by the Delhi lieutenant governor with the police commissioner and senior officers.
The review focused on stronger foot and Police Control Room (PCR) patrolling with clearly demarcated beats, deployment of women police personnel at vulnerable spots and joint safety audits with Delhi University (DU), according to the lieutenant governor’s account.

The meeting built on earlier directions on student safety. Removing poorly lit spots around transit hubs was identified alongside patrol coverage and women police deployment as part of the work to improve safety across Delhi.
Joint audits with DU formed another part of the review, bringing university safety concerns into discussions with police officers.
The lieutenant governor reiterated zero tolerance for harassment and stalking and said the priority was a secure, safe and fearless Delhi for every student.
