New Delhi, July 1: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested an alleged associate of the Tillu Tajpuria gang in connection with last year’s sensational firing incident in Alipur, where nearly a dozen rounds were allegedly fired during an attempt to forcibly कब्जा a disputed property.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep alias Daagu Maharaj (40) and his cousin Deepak (32), both residents of Sonipat, Haryana. According to Delhi Police, Sandeep is an active associate of the Tillu Tajpuria gang and was allegedly involved in the violent property dispute that triggered the firing incident.

Police said the Alipur case involved an attempt to take control of a disputed property, during which around 12 rounds of gunfire were allegedly fired, creating panic in the area. The incident had drawn significant attention due to the alleged involvement of organised criminal elements.

During the operation, the Crime Branch recovered a semi-automatic pistol loaded with four live cartridges from Sandeep. Police also recovered four additional live cartridges from Deepak.

The Scorpio-N SUV allegedly used by the accused during their criminal activities has also been seized.

Delhi Police has registered a fresh case under the Arms Act at the Crime Branch Police Station in connection with the recovery of the illegal firearm and ammunition.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the accused’s involvement in other criminal cases and to identify additional members of the gang linked to the Alipur firing incident.
