New Delhi, June 23: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has urged residents to actively participate in the city’s monsoon preparedness efforts by reporting uncleared drains through the MCD 311 App, emphasizing that timely public reporting can help prevent waterlogging during the rainy season.
In a message posted on social media platform X, the Chief Minister appealed to citizens to open the MCD 311 App and report any drains in their localities that have not been cleaned. She assured residents that prompt action would be taken on such complaints.
Highlighting the scale of the ongoing desilting drive, Gupta said that 3.4 million metric tonnes of silt have already been removed from drains across the national capital as part of preparations for the upcoming monsoon season.
The Chief Minister stressed that the Delhi Government and civic agencies are working with vigilance to minimize the risk of waterlogging, but public participation remains equally important in ensuring effective results on the ground.
“Your alert today can prevent waterlogging tomorrow,” she said, calling upon residents to use the digital platform to help authorities identify problem areas before heavy rainfall begins.
The Delhi Government has been undertaking extensive drain-cleaning operations across the city in an effort to improve stormwater flow and reduce flooding risks during the monsoon. Officials believe that citizen reporting through the MCD 311 App will help accelerate responses to local issues and strengthen overall preparedness.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at improving civic services, enhancing accountability and ensuring a smoother monsoon season for Delhi residents.
