Delhi Police SI Anil Sharma Saves Man Attempting Suicide on Mahipalpur Flyover

New Delhi, June 16: A Delhi Police sub-inspector displayed remarkable courage, presence of mind and compassion by rescuing a young man who was allegedly attempting to end his life from the Mahipalpur Flyover in the national capital.

According to Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector Anil Sharma responded swiftly after receiving information about a distressed individual standing on the flyover and threatening to jump.

Upon reaching the spot, SI Anil Sharma immediately engaged the young man in conversation and patiently attempted to calm him down. Understanding the emotional state of the individual, the officer continued speaking to him in a reassuring manner to gain his confidence and prevent him from taking any drastic step.

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the police officer offered the man water and even handed over his mobile phone to distract him and keep him engaged in conversation.

As the interaction continued, SI Sharma carefully assessed the situation and waited for the right opportunity to act. Once he sensed an opening, he swiftly moved in, safely grabbed the individual and pulled him away from the edge of the flyover, preventing a potential tragedy.

Delhi Police praised the officer’s sensitivity, quick thinking and timely intervention, noting that his actions helped save a precious human life.

The rescue has drawn appreciation on social media, with many users commending the officer’s professionalism and humane approach in handling a highly sensitive situation.

Delhi Police shared details of the incident on social media platform X, highlighting how patience, empathy and prompt action by SI Anil Sharma ensured the safe rescue of the young man.

Further assistance and counselling are expected to be provided to the individual as part of the follow-up support process.
