Delhi Govt Pushes Anti-Pollution Drive, Orders Faster Deployment of Smog Guns and Air Quality Tech

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday reviewed the capital’s ongoing anti-pollution measures during a high-level meeting with senior officials of the Environment Department and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).

The meeting focused on accelerating pollution-control infrastructure across the city, including increased deployment of water sprinklers, anti-smog guns and Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines to curb rising dust and air pollution levels.

Sirsa directed officials to expedite all pending pollution-related tenders and ensure faster execution of projects aimed at improving Delhi’s air quality.

The Minister also reviewed the progress of shortlisted projects under the government’s Innovation Challenge initiative. Officials presented updates on ground testing of innovative technologies designed to reduce vehicular emissions and ambient air pollution in the national capital.

According to officials, the government is exploring advanced pollution-control technologies to strengthen long-term air quality management and improve on-ground enforcement mechanisms.

Speaking after the review meeting, Sirsa said the Delhi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is working on multiple fronts to tackle pollution, including field-level action, policy interventions and adoption of modern technologies.

“Our objective is clear — to improve Delhi’s air quality and provide relief to every citizen,” Sirsa stated.

The Delhi government has intensified its pollution-control strategy ahead of the upcoming high-pollution seasons, with a focus on dust suppression, vehicular pollution management and technology-driven monitoring systems.
