New Delhi: Delhi Police have cracked a disturbing robbery and extortion racket targeting cab drivers in Rohini, arresting three accused identified as Ravi Kumar, Pushpendra alias Kale, and Hargovind alias Tochi.
According to police, the accused used a calculated modus operandi — they would book cabs through online platforms, lure unsuspecting drivers to isolated locations, assault them, and then flee with their vehicles.
The case came to light after a cab driver was attacked and his vehicle looted on April 20 near New Karala Road in Jain Nagar. Acting swiftly, police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the trio.
During the operation, police recovered two stolen cars, a mobile phone, and a button-operated knife from the accused.
Interrogation revealed that the gang was involved in at least one more similar incident, indicating a pattern of organised criminal activity.
DCP Rohini Shashank Jaiswal, during a media briefing, confirmed the arrests and said further investigation is underway to identify additional victims and possible links to a larger network.
