Delhi Metro Phase V Gets Green Signal: ₹12,014 Crore Plan to Transform Capital by 2028

New Delhi: In a major infrastructure push, the Delhi Government has approved three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase V (A), with an estimated investment of ₹12,014 crore. The projects are targeted for completion by 2028 and are expected to significantly enhance connectivity across key parts of the national capital.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the decision on X, stating that the expansion will strengthen Delhi’s public transport network, ease congestion, and help curb vehicular pollution.

RK Ashram Marg–Indraprastha Corridor

This corridor will feature nine proposed stations and pass through the Central Vista area. It is expected to directly connect administrative, cultural, and historic zones of Delhi to the metro network. The government estimates that nearly 60,000 employees and around 2 lakh daily commuters will benefit from this route.

Aerocity–IGI Airport Terminal-1 Corridor

The new line will provide seamless metro connectivity to Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal-1, enhancing convenience for air travelers and airport staff.

Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj Corridor

With three proposed stations, this stretch will improve metro access in South and South-East Delhi, strengthening last-mile connectivity in the region.

According to the government, the expansion will ensure faster, time-bound travel for passengers, reduce road traffic pressure, and contribute to lowering pollution levels in the city.

The Phase V rollout marks another significant step in Delhi’s ongoing metro infrastructure development, aimed at supporting sustainable urban mobility and long-term transport planning.
