Delhi Civic Body Seals Illegal Jeans Dyeing Unit in Najafgarh for Water Pollution

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has sealed an illegal jeans dyeing factory in the Najafgarh Zone for violating environmental norms and causing water pollution, officials said on Wednesday.

A team from the Najafgarh Zone conducted inspections across its jurisdiction and identified a pollution-causing industrial unit operating in clear violation of prescribed regulations. The jeans dyeing factory, spread over more than 2,000 square metres, was found functioning between Mitraon and Surehra villages, near Radha Krishna Vatika in Isapur Ward.

During the inspection, the unit was found operational and discharging pollutants, raising serious concerns over environmental compliance and water contamination. Acting swiftly, the civic body sealed the factory on the spot.

Najafgarh Zone Deputy Commissioner Sumit Kumar has directed officials to continue daily surveys and inspections to identify and act against polluting units operating within the zone.

The MCD has warned that strict action will be taken against any industrial unit found violating environmental standards, reiterating its commitment to protecting public health and preventing further degradation of water bodies in the area.
