Delhi Airport Customs Foils ₹5.5 Crore Ganja Smuggling Bid, Two Youths from Thailand Caught

Date:

New Delhi: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, the Customs Department at Delhi Airport seized 5 kg of ganja worth ₹5.5 crore in the international market from two Indian youths returning from Bangkok, officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to customs officials, the duo was under surveillance from the moment they landed. During baggage screening and inspection, packets of narcotics were recovered from their luggage. A forensic examination later confirmed the seized substance to be high-grade cannabis.

The two accused have been taken into custody for interrogation. Investigators suspect they are part of a larger international drugs network operating between Southeast Asia and India.

The bust highlights Delhi’s role as a critical entry point for narcotics trafficking, with customs officials stepping up checks on flights arriving from Thailand and other high-risk routes.
