New Delhi: The Yamuna water level in Delhi dipped slightly on Monday morning, with officials recording 205.22 metres at the Old Railway Bridge at 7 am, compared to 205.33 metres on Sunday night. At 6 am, the level stood at 205.24 metres.
The river, which swelled to a seasonal peak of 207.48 metres last Thursday, continues to recede but remains dangerously close to the 205.33-metre danger mark. Authorities note that the warning level is 204.50 metres, while evacuations are triggered at 206 metres.
The Yamuna had breached the danger level last Tuesday, forcing the closure of the Old Railway Bridge and displacing nearly 10,000 residents from low-lying areas. The bridge remains a key monitoring point for assessing flood threats.

Floodwaters have submerged stretches along the riverbanks, with relief tents set up on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Mori Gate, and Mayur Vihar. Inundated localities include Monastery Market, Madanpur Khadar, and Yamuna Bazar, where affected families have been shifted to relief camps.
Delhi faced one of its worst flood-like situations in July 2023, when the Yamuna rose to an unprecedented 208.66 metres, inundating large parts of northeast, east, and southeast Delhi, including sensitive spots like Rajghat and the Tibetan Market, and forcing over 25,000 people to evacuate.
Officials said the situation this year remains under close watch, with strict monitoring of the river’s flow from the Old Railway Bridge.
