Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Directs MCD to Remove Landfills by Dec 2026, Extends ‘Delhi Ko Koode Se Azadi’ Campaign

New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a high-level review meeting at Delhi Secretariat on civic issues related to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The meeting was attended by Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar, senior MCD officials, and representatives from concerned departments.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister issued strict directions to remove Delhi’s three landfill sites, also known as garbage mountains, by December 2026. She emphasized that the long-standing waste management challenge must be addressed with urgency.

The CM also announced that the ongoing ‘Delhi Ko Koode Se Azadi’ campaign has been extended until October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, to strengthen cleanliness drives across the city.

In addition, Gupta instructed officials to accelerate the development and beautification of parks under MCD to ensure better facilities for residents and promote a cleaner, greener capital.
