New Delhi: In a landmark decision aimed at elevating the spiritual experience of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2025, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced a series of reforms to make the event “grand, divine and transparent.”

Addressing the media after a cabinet meeting, CM Gupta said, “For the first time, registered committees serving Shiva devotees during the sacred Kanwar Yatra will receive direct financial assistance via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).” She added that all necessary permissions will be mandatorily issued within 72 hours through a single-window system.

“Our government’s priority is to ensure that nothing disrupts the devotion and spiritual discipline of Lord Shiva’s devotees,” said the Chief Minister.

Key Announcements:

  • Direct DBT assistance to registered Kanwar service committees
  • 72-hour clearance of all permits via Single Window System
  • Free electricity up to 1200 units
  • Enhanced drinking water, sanitation and traffic management arrangements
  • Round-the-clock monitoring to ensure seamless pilgrimage

“Under previous governments, the Kanwar Yatra had fallen prey to corruption and chaos, but under our administration, it will now become a symbol of service, good governance, and faith,” said CM Gupta.

The Delhi government, she emphasized, is committed to organizing this spiritual journey with discipline, sincerity and reverence.

“Kanwar Yatra 2025 will be a unique celebration of devotion, faith and spiritual endurance for Shiva devotees in Delhi,” she concluded.

This announcement comes amid preparations for one of North India’s largest annual pilgrimages, with lakhs of kanwariyas expected to pass through Delhi.
