90-Year-Old Woman Dies of COVID-19 in Delhi

Date:

New Delhi: The death of a 90-year-old woman in Delhi, after testing positive for COVID-19, underscores the continued presence and potential impact of the virus, particularly on vulnerable populations.

According to official data, the woman, who suffered from pre-existing conditions including respiratory acidosis, Congestive Heart Failure (CCF), and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), represents the eighth fatality recorded in the capital since the beginning of the year. While the Union Health Ministry has indicated that the primary cause of death was attributable to these co-morbidities, with the COVID-19 diagnosis considered incidental, the event serves as a somber reminder of the virus’s capacity to complicate existing health challenges.

The current statistics reveal a total of 691 active COVID-19 cases in Delhi, contributing to a nationwide figure of 6,815. Kerala, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Delhi are currently identified as the most affected states. Although the number of active cases remains relatively low compared to previous surges, the situation necessitates continued vigilance and adherence to public health guidelines, especially concerning the protection of elderly individuals and those with underlying health issues.
