Infant and Elderly Man Succumb to COVID-19 in Delhi

New Delhi: The capital city has reported two new fatalities linked to COVID-19, including the heartbreaking case of a five-month-old infant, as confirmed by health officials on Thursday.

Delhi currently ranks second in India for the highest number of active COVID-19 cases, following Kerala, with a total of 562 active cases. Since January 1 of this year, the city has recorded a total of seven COVID-related deaths.

According to the COVID-19 dashboard maintained by the Union Health Ministry, Delhi has seen an increase of 105 new cases since Wednesday.

The infant, who had underlying health conditions including cerebral palsy, seizure disorder, pneumonia with sepsis, and respiratory failure, tragically passed away after testing positive for the virus. Additionally, an 87-year-old man, who was immunocompromised and had a history of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and kidney ailments, also succumbed to the illness after being diagnosed with COVID pneumonia.

As of now, India has a total of 4,866 active COVID-19 cases, with Kerala remaining the most affected state, followed by Delhi, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
