COVID-19 Claims First Life in Delhi: Government Assures Preparedness Amid Rising Cases

Date:

New Delhi: Officials confirmed on Saturday that a 60-year-old woman has died after testing positive for COVID-19, marking the first fatality in the capital during the ongoing surge in cases.

As of now, Delhi has recorded 294 active COVID-19 cases. An official stated that the woman was suffering from acute intestinal obstruction following a laparotomy, and the COVID-19 diagnosis was incidental to her primary condition.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed the situation on Thursday, noting that 19 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized in Delhi. She reassured the public that there is no cause for alarm, as the Delhi government remains vigilant and hospitals are well-prepared to handle any developments.
