Delhi Government to Establish Comfortable Shelters for Stray Cattle with Food and Water

Date:

New Delhi: Stray cattle wandering the streets of Delhi will soon find refuge in comfortable shelters equipped with ample fodder and clean drinking water, according to an official announcement.

The Delhi government has launched a significant initiative aimed at safeguarding the welfare of stray cattle.

During a high-level review meeting held on Wednesday, Delhi Minister of Development Kapil Mishra convened with officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Animal Husbandry Department. The primary focus of the meeting was to establish permanent and humane shelters for cattle throughout the national capital.

As a result of the discussions, it was agreed that designated spaces will be created for these animals, ensuring they have access to sufficient fodder, clean drinking water, and proper sanitation facilities.

Mishra emphasized the government’s commitment to removing cattle from the streets and providing them with a safe and dignified existence. “We are starting from scratch when it comes to cattle protection. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, we are dedicated to ensuring that stray cattle receive the care and respect they deserve,” the statement quoted Mishra as saying.

In addition to creating new shelters, existing cow sheds (gaushalas) will be upgraded with modern facilities, and regular monitoring will be implemented to ensure compliance with standards. The government is also committed to supporting cow shed operators while holding them accountable for their responsibilities. The meeting included discussions on potential penalties for negligent operators.

Mishra assured that proper arrangements for cattle fodder would be established and that all necessary support would be provided to operators to facilitate the successful implementation of this initiative.
