Delhi Chief Minister Gupta Hails VK Saxena’s Leadership, Touts Four-Engine Government’s Achievements

Date:

New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday praised the three-year tenure of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, asserting that the “four-engine” government has propelled the capital into “top gear” for growth and development.

Saxena assumed office as Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor on May 26, 2022. His term has been characterized by a protracted conflict with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration over various political and governance issues.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ended a decade-long AAP rule in Delhi by securing 48 out of 70 Assembly seats in the elections held in February.

During a program at Bharat Mandapam, Gupta highlighted the achievements of the BJP-led central government over the past 11 years, the three years of effective governance under the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, and the accomplishments of the Delhi government over the last 100 days, according to a statement.

She remarked that the day marked a significant milestone in the administrative and developmental history of the capital. “Delhi has shifted into top gear with the four-engine government at the helm,” Gupta stated.

In response, AAP leadership has criticized the BJP on various fronts, claiming that its “four-engine” government has failed to address pressing issues in Delhi, such as waterlogging and rising fees charged by private schools.

Gupta emphasized that under the “visionary leadership” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the “four-engine” government has embodied the principles of “development, trust, and putting the nation first.” She cited initiatives like Digital India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Ayushman Bharat, and India’s impactful presence on global platforms such as the G20 as reflections of the country’s evolving global identity, as she spoke at the event.

“Under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has not only emerged as a stronger nation but has also demonstrated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the dignity and lives of its citizens through initiatives like Operation Sindoor,” she stated in the announcement.

The Chief Minister commended Saxena’s three-year tenure, characterizing it as a pivotal step toward administrative reform and enhanced transparency, according to the statement.

She highlighted several significant initiatives undertaken during his leadership, including the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River, decisive action against illegal constructions, and the implementation of various infrastructure modernization projects, the statement further noted.
