Delhi: IGI Airport Compliance Officer Assaulted Outside Hotel in Dwarka; FIR Filed

Date:

New Delhi: A compliance officer with Aviation Security at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport was violently assaulted with an iron rod near a hotel in Dwarka after he requested a car driver to stop honking, officials reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Dwarka Sector-13. The 31-year-old victim, a resident of Raj Nagar Part-II, was attacked by an unidentified assailant who subsequently fled the scene in his vehicle.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim and his wife were entering the hotel around 4:30 PM when a car behind them began honking incessantly. When the compliance officer objected to the noise, the driver exited his vehicle and a heated argument ensued.

Despite the victim’s wife’s attempts to de-escalate the situation, the assailant allegedly retrieved a rod-like weapon from his car and struck the victim on the head and body, as detailed in the FIR.

Police responded promptly after receiving a call through the emergency services and transported the injured officer to Indira Gandhi Hospital, where he was treated and later discharged.

An FIR has been registered at the Dwarka North police station based on the victim’s complaint and medical report. Authorities are actively investigating the case.

A senior police officer stated, “We have gathered information suggesting that the suspect frequents a gym in the area. We are confident that he will be apprehended soon.”
