Delhi | Labourer Killed Over Salt Dispute at Construction Site

Date:

NEW DELHI: A tragic incident unfolded in southeast Delhi when a 30-year-old labourer lost his life after being attacked with glass shards by his co-worker over a dispute about salt in their food.

The unfortunate event took place at around 9 pm on Wednesday at Amar Colony, where Rakesh (30) and Lalji, both from Uttar Pradesh, were preparing dinner at a construction site where they were employed.

Upon receiving a PCR call regarding a quarrel, officers from the Amar Colony police station rushed to the scene at approximately 9:35 pm. Tragically, they discovered Rakesh deceased and Lalji severely injured.

Eyewitnesses, including Tejilal and Ramjeevan, reported that the altercation began while Rakesh and Lalji were cooking together and quickly escalated due to a disagreement over the amount of salt in the food.

In a fit of rage, Lalji reportedly grabbed broken glass pieces and viciously attacked Rakesh, resulting in fatal injuries.

“We have filed a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and are awaiting Lalji’s recovery at AIIMS. Once he is declared fit, he will be taken into custody,” stated the officer in charge.

The crime scene was meticulously examined by the forensic team, and crucial evidence was collected to aid in the investigation.
