RTI Revelation: Kejriwal’s Bungalow Maintenance Expenditure Exceeds Average House Building Cost in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi, has come under fire from the BJP for allegedly spending an exorbitant amount of money on the maintenance of his bungalow previous residence (Not the Sheesh Mahal). According to an RTI reply, it was revealed that Kejriwal’s bungalow was maintained at a cost of Rs 3.69 crore annually between 2015-2022.

Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi BJP president, criticized Kejriwal for the significant amount of money spent on the maintenance of his previous residence. The RTI query showed that a total of Rs 3,69,54,384 was spent annually on regular maintenance of Kejriwal’s bungalow during his tenure as Chief Minister.

Sachdeva highlighted that an additional Rs 29.56 crore was spent on general repairs, sewage, electricity, and structural work of Kejriwal’s government bungalow on Flag Staff Road. He questioned the necessity of spending Rs 31 lakh per month on the maintenance of the bungalow and called on Kejriwal to explain the reasons behind such high expenses.

The BJP leader accused Kejriwal of leading a luxurious lifestyle, citing the construction of Sheesh Mahal at a cost of Rs 52 crore. Sachdeva demanded a response from Kejriwal regarding the allegations of corruption and extravagant spending.

The RTI query, filed by a person from Maharashtra, revealed the excessive maintenance expenses on Kejriwal’s previous residence, indicating a pattern of lavish living and corruption in government affairs. Sachdeva emphasized the stark difference between the cost of maintaining Kejriwal’s bungalow and the average cost of building a house in Delhi, further fueling the controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s lifestyle and governance.

The BJP leader stated that Kejriwal has been evading questions posed to him for an extended period. The citizens of Delhi anticipate his transparency in addressing the issue of why his bungalow required Rs 31 lakh per month for maintenance. It is imperative for Kejriwal to step up and provide a clear explanation to the public.
