Delhi | Mayor Slams BJP Councilors for Disrespectful Behavior Towards Dalit Mayor

NEW DELHI: The budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was approved amidst a tumultuous scene. Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi leveled serious accusations against BJP councilors, alleging that their recent behavior towards the Dalit mayor on Wednesday demonstrated a blatant disregard for the constitution.

Mayor Khichi claimed that BJP councilors had torn up the budget documents and mistreated the Dalit mayor, showcasing their disrespectful attitude. He condemned their actions as a direct violation of the constitution, stating that they disrupted the proceedings by climbing on tables and attempting to physically intimidate the council members. The mayor emphasized that the treatment of a Dalit mayor in such a manner was a clear reflection of the councilors’ mindset and their opposition to the constitution.
