Delhi Mayor Hands Compassionate Appointment Letters to 46 Dependents of Deceased MCD Employees

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Monday handed over appointment letters on compassionate grounds to 46 dependents of deceased Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employees, appointing them as Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in the corporation’s Public Health Department, the Mayor’s Office said.

The letters were presented at the Satya Narayan Bansal Auditorium at the MCD headquarters. Wahi said the MCD remains committed to extending every possible assistance to its employees.

Deputy Mayor Dr Monika Pant, Leader of the House Jai Bhagwan Yadav, DDA member Rajiv Babbar, Municipal Health Officer Dr Ashok Rawat and other senior officials of the corporation were present, according to the Mayor’s Office.

Earlier steps cited by the Mayor

Wahi said that a few days ago, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta facilitated the payment of salaries based on the principle of “equal pay for equal work” to 4,000 MTS (Public Health) employees.

He said 1,467 sanitation workers employed by the MCD have also been regularised, and that sanitation workers too have been appointed on compassionate grounds. Last week, the Mayor had asked the MCD to clear sanitation workers’ dues before Diwali.

‘Employees a vital link’

Crediting the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Wahi said the BJP-led MCD was continuously working for the welfare of its employees and the protection of their rights. He said the corporation’s employees are a vital link in providing civic amenities in Delhi, and that services including sanitation function smoothly because of their work.
