NEW DELHI: Raghav Chadha has welcomed changes to prepaid mobile recharge options, saying the Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026 would give consumers more choice, including voice-and-SMS-only plans for users who do not need mobile data.

In a post on X on September 27, Chadha highlighted 30-day recharge plans and options suited to consumers on limited budgets who primarily need basic voice calls. He described the changes as a response to concerns about limited and inflexible recharge choices.
Chadha said people had shared these concerns with him and that he raised the issue in Parliament on March 11, seeking greater choice and more affordable options for consumers.
He thanked the Government of India and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for addressing the concerns in the interests of consumer choice and convenience.
The TRAI notice displayed in his video, dated September 21, refers to voice-and-SMS-only special tariff vouchers and an option renewable on the same date every month. That calendar-month provision is distinct from a fixed 30-day validity period.
