New Delhi: MCD carried out 30 demolition actions, sealed seven properties and issued 10 demolition orders across its 12 zones as part of an enforcement drive against unauthorised construction and violations of building norms.
The corporation said the citywide campaign covers dangerous buildings and violations of the Delhi Master Plan and building bylaws, with a focus on public safety and compliance with applicable rules.
Action across Delhi neighbourhoods
The latest demolition actions covered Old Rajinder Nagar, Baljeet Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Burari, Mandoli, Saboli, Jheel Khuranja, Ganesh Nagar Extension, Lalita Park, Laxmi Nagar and Gautampuri, among other areas, according to MCD.
The corporation said its zonal teams maintained surveillance and acted against identified violations under the prescribed provisions. The 10 demolition orders were issued separately from the 30 demolition actions carried out during the drive.
In the previous day’s enforcement drive, MCD reported demolition at 35 properties and the sealing of five properties for violations of the Delhi Master Plan and building bylaws.
Zonal officers told to maintain surveillance
MCD said unauthorised construction and violations of building norms would not be tolerated within its jurisdiction. Zonal officers have been directed to maintain a close watch in their areas and ensure necessary action under the applicable Master Plan, building bylaws and other rules.
The corporation said the campaign would continue across all 12 zones. Its teams will keep monitoring unauthorised construction, dangerous buildings and other violations that could pose a risk to public safety, and take necessary action.
