Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh Leads Shramdaan at Hindu Rao Hospital Under Swachhata Abhiyan, Urges Citizens to Keep Public Places Clean

Date:

New Delhi: As part of the ongoing Swachhata Abhiyan 2025 launched on August 1 by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Mayor of Delhi Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh took part in a Shramdaan (voluntary sanitation effort) at Hindu Rao Hospital, one of the capital’s largest municipal health facilities.

The Mayor was joined by MCD Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma, Civil Lines Zone Chairman Gulab Singh, MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar, Additional Commissioner Pankaj Naresh Aggarwal, City Paharganj Deputy Commissioner Shwetika Sachan, Civil Lines Deputy Commissioner Anshul Sirohi, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Anand Prakash Narnauliya. Senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi were also present during the drive.

Administering the cleanliness oath to all present, Mayor Iqbal Singh emphasized that public institutions like hospitals should be treated with the same care as one’s home. “Hindu Rao Hospital caters to 3,000 to 4,000 patients daily and has 1,000 beds. Cleanliness is not just a duty, it is true service. A cleaner environment means better health for all,” he said.

The Mayor reiterated that public hygiene is a collective responsibility, urging citizens to view hospitals and civic facilities as family spaces. “If we fail to keep our surroundings clean today, what legacy will we leave for future generations?” he asked.

He lauded the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s efforts under the newly aligned triple engine government—a reference to coordinated governance between the center, state, and local bodies. “There is no shortage of resources. If anyone faces issues, they should immediately approach their respective Zonal Office for quick redressal,” he assured.
