New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 24-year-old man allegedly linked to firing at a house in Swaroop Nagar and reported recovering two country-made pistols and two live cartridges from his possession.
The accused, identified as Harender, also known as Lala and Chota Chedi, is a resident of Shiv Vihar in Karawal Nagar. The Outer North District Special Staff apprehended him after receiving information, police said.
Arms recovery and firing case
Police said the weapons recovery led to an Arms Act case being registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station on October 18. During questioning, the accused allegedly disclosed involvement in a separate Swaroop Nagar case concerning firing at a residential house.
Investigators allege that he acted with associates to intimidate the occupants and create fear in the locality. Police also accused him of displaying weapons on social media to project a criminal image.
Source of firearms under investigation
The operation was led by Inspector Vishvendra Choudhary under the supervision of ACP Operations Dinesh Kumar. Police said the accused had previous involvement in three cases relating to attempt to murder, the Arms Act and hurt.
Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events, verify the roles of the accused and his associates, and trace the source of the recovered firearms and any links to other criminal activities.
