Chhath Puja: Minister Ashish Sood Inspects 29 Ghats in Janakpuri, Promises Smooth Arrangements Across Delhi

Date:

New Delhi: After the Diwali celebrations, the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi Government has shifted its focus to Chhath Puja preparations across the city. Ministers, MLAs, and officials have begun extensive inspections to ensure smooth arrangements at all Chhath ghats.

Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday inspected 29 ghats in the Janakpuri Assembly constituency, where thousands of devotees from the Purvanchal community will gather to celebrate the festival on the banks of the Yamuna River and in local ponds.

“For the first time in many years, arrangements are being made to celebrate Chhath Puja in the Yamuna under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Apart from this, every constituency where the Purvanchal community resides will have full arrangements for the festival,” said Minister Ashish Sood.

Sood emphasised that the Delhi government is committed to ensuring that every religious community gets equal opportunity to observe its festivals, while maintaining cleanliness and environmental protection.

“It is our duty to provide facilities for every section of society to celebrate their traditions. Citizens, too, must ensure that Chhath is celebrated while preserving cleanliness and the environment,” Sood added.

The minister informed that maintenance and repair work is underway at all 29 Janakpuri ghats and across 800–900 Chhath ghats in Delhi. The government has also formed special committees to coordinate with local Chhath Puja Samitis and address their needs.

During his visit to the Posangi Pur Chhath Puja Samiti in Janakpuri, Sood interacted with organisers and assured them of all necessary facilities.

“We requested the minister to complete the pond work as in previous years, and he has promised to ensure all arrangements for the comfort of devotees, especially women observing the rituals,” said a committee representative.

Sood reiterated that the preparations are not limited to Janakpuri but extend to every part of Delhi, with the aim of celebrating this grand festival of faith, purity, and devotion with full fervour.
