New Delhi: Murasu remained a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal at 5.30 am on November 2, according to the India Meteorological Department’s latest morning update. An earlier bulletin had reported its intensification into a severe cyclonic storm.

The storm was centred near latitude 13.9°N and longitude 81.8°E, about 200 km east-northeast of Chennai and 210 km east-southeast of Nellore. It had moved west-northwestwards at 25 kmph during the preceding six hours, according to the IMD.
