New Delhi: Customs officers seized two gold chains weighing a total of 332 grams from two passengers who arrived from Sharjah at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport on October 26. The gold, of 999 purity, had an estimated market value of about Rs 47.38 lakh, Delhi Customs said.
The passengers were intercepted on the basis of spot profiling after crossing the Green Channel. Their baggage revealed nothing incriminating, but a strong beep during door-frame metal detector screening prompted a personal search, according to Customs.
