Delhi: Border enforcement is set to be stepped up under GRAP Stage I, with Delhi Traffic Police and neighbouring-state officials focusing on vehicle-entry restrictions, diversion of buses that do not meet prescribed standards and joint enforcement teams.
The measures were discussed at an interstate coordination meeting chaired by Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary on October 22. Officials also stressed checking the validity of Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC).

Border coordination and PUCC compliance
The meeting brought together officials from neighbouring states and the departments concerned to discuss measures against air pollution.
The emphasis was on effectively enforcing restrictions on vehicle entry into Delhi, diverting buses that fail prescribed standards at the border itself, forming joint enforcement teams and ensuring valid PUCC.
The announcement did not specify the bus categories or detailed emission standards covered by the proposed border diversion.
Dust control and water sprinkling
Directions were also issued for dust control at construction sites, regular sprinkling of water on roads and greater public awareness.
The coordination effort follows the implementation of the first stage of the Graded Response Action Plan.
