New Delhi: Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor directed officials to strengthen solid waste management, ensure effective segregation at source and maintain rigorous on-ground cleanliness after inspecting civic facilities across MCD’s Old Delhi Zone on October 16.
The inspection covered the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) Centre near the Red Fort, the pedestrianised stretch of Chandni Chowk, the Vijay Ghat Pigeon Feeding Point and the Integrated Transit Station on Bela Road.

Cleanliness and civic amenities in focus
Describing Old Delhi as the capital’s historic, cultural and commercial heart, the Lieutenant Governor said the area deserved world-class civic standards.
He stressed that preserving its heritage must go hand in hand with cleaner streets, better civic amenities and a sustainable urban environment. A cleaner and more liveable Old Delhi, he said, was integral to building a developed capital.
