State health cover added to Central scheme
The Chief Minister said her government adopted Ayushman Bharat after taking office in February 2025. According to Gupta, the state added ₹5 lakh in health cover to the ₹5 lakh provided by the Central government.
“Nine lakh people have enrolled under the Ayushman scheme so far, and we have settled approximately 65,000 claims,” she said.
Gupta also referred to the Vaya Vandana and Jan Aushadhi schemes, saying Delhi received support from the Centre in implementing them. She said her government had worked to take the Prime Minister’s initiatives to residents.
Criticism of previous governments
Gupta accused previous Delhi governments of being unwilling to adopt schemes carrying the words “Pradhan Mantri” in their names. She said any earlier shortcomings in residents receiving the benefits of Central schemes were attributable to those governments.
She also said Delhi was now working under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana towards housing for residents, alleging that the previous government had not availed the scheme’s benefits.
