New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested 28-year-old Deva from Greater Noida, saying he was allegedly involved in 91 criminal cases and had been declared a proclaimed offender in three cases.
A team from the Crime Branch’s Western Range-II apprehended him on September 26 from Pradhan Market Road in Roza Yakubpur village, Sector 16, Greater Noida, in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar district, police said.
According to police, the cases linked to him include robbery, snatching, theft, house-breaking, attempt to murder, assault on police personnel and offences under the Arms Act.

Police said the operation followed surveillance and local intelligence gathering aimed at tackling street crime in Dwarka and surrounding areas. Head Constable Raju Ram developed information about Deva’s presence in Greater Noida, which was followed up through field verification.
The team was constituted by DCP Crime Branch Harsh Indora and led by Inspector Akshay Gahlaut under the supervision of ACP Western Range-II Raj Pal Dabas. It included SI Rahul, ASIs Jitender and Rasmuddin, Head Constables Dinesh, Raju Ram and Naveen, and Woman Constable Bindu, with technical assistance from Head Constable Bhawar.
Police alleged that Deva had been changing hideouts to evade arrest and court proceedings before shifting outside Delhi. He was working as a labourer in Greater Noida when he was traced, according to the police account.
Proclaimed offender in three cases, police say
Police said Deva had been declared a proclaimed offender in a 2020 snatching and theft-related case and a 2018 case involving alleged assault on public servants and robbery, both registered at Dwarka North police station, as well as a 2021 attempt-to-murder and Arms Act case at Bindapur police station.
The proclamation orders in the two Dwarka North cases were issued on June 4 and August 23, 2025, respectively, according to the Crime Branch. Police also said proclamation proceedings had been initiated in three other robbery- and arms-related cases registered at Dabri and Bindapur police stations.
Police recount alleged 2018 assault
Describing the 2018 case, police alleged that Deva and his associates assaulted an officer on duty and tried to snatch his service pistol. Deva sustained a gunshot injury to his foot during the ensuing scuffle, according to the police account.
The Crime Branch said the arrest formed part of its action against street crime and accused persons evading court proceedings.
