New Delhi: New medical equipment, a dialysis facility and a Jan Aushadhi store are planned for Girdhar Lal Hospital, Delhi Deputy Mayor Monika Pant said during an inspection of the hospital’s services and infrastructure.
Pant said a provision of about Rs 4 crore had been made to strengthen the hospital’s civil infrastructure. The funds would be used for improvements to basic facilities to provide a more convenient environment for patients and their families, she said.
During the inspection, she reviewed patient care, the availability of medicines, cleanliness, and medical and civil infrastructure. She directed the hospital administration to prioritise patients’ needs and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the premises.
Pant said new medical machines and equipment based on modern technology would be made available soon. The process of arranging a dialysis machine was being taken forward, while other equipment would be provided in phases according to patients’ requirements.
She also outlined plans to open a Jan Aushadhi store at the hospital to improve access to affordable, quality generic medicines. Timely availability of essential medicines should accompany the expansion of treatment facilities, she said.
Pant spoke with patients undergoing treatment and their family members about the facilities, medicines and care available at the hospital, and heard their concerns.
She asked the administration to use available resources effectively and regularly review cleanliness, medicine supplies and treatment arrangements.
Local councillor Kiran Bala, Additional Commissioner Pankaj Naresh Agarwal, Director of Hospital Administration A N Mathur, Medical Superintendent Satya Prakash and senior hospital and MCD officials were present during the inspection.
